Ned Martin is a realism painter in Manhattan, New York who meticulously grinds his own oil paints in order to produce works of exceptional depth and glowing hues. While many consider his works to be hyper-real, a photographic reproduction is never the intent. This becomes evident upon close examination of the painting's surface, revealing broken, nonsensical marks of pigment in many layers.
The experiences of painting on the River Seine in Paris and in the fields of Scotland, exhibiting in New York, Toronto and Florence have affected his process. Yet, Ned Martin's core creative inspiration is derived from two very different worlds closer to his heart and soul: his current home in New York City and the rolling hills and woods where he grew up in Northern Maryland and Pennsylvania.
